Kenyan Athletes Hospital Visit

Hi, my name is Alex Dickinson; I am 15 years old and on the 4th of June 2010 I broke my femur in half whilst wakeboarding.

I spent a week in hospital, four days waiting for the operation and three days recovering and learning how to use my crutches.  On the third day I was told that there was a group of Kenyan athletes coming to visit the hospital and I was asked if I would be willing to do an interview with them.  Of course I took this once in a life time opportunity and said yes.

When they came they asked me a few questions about how I had injured myself and what was going to happen to me and then we had a photo with everyone in.  There was one thing that completely amazed me.  When I was being asked questions, Catherine put her hands over my leg and blessed it.  I was so intrigued but completely amazed.

It was a brilliant experience for me to meet these World Champion and World Record-holding athletes.  I am really grateful that they took so much valuable time out of their training schedules to come and see us in hospital.  Thank you so much to everyone who organised it and to all of the athletes who came.
