Celebrating our Diversity - event a huge success!!
A record number of people turned out for the Celebrating Diversity Event 2010, held in Queen's Park on Saturday 27th March.
Bedfordshire’s New Migration Partnership and Bedford Borough’s Queen’s Park Neighbourhood Centre teamed up with a host of other partners to deliver a fun-packed afternoon of family entertainment, performances, and to taste foods from across the world, making it a truly fantastic day out. A total of 1,638 people turned up to soak up the vibrant, exciting and enjoyable atmosphere.
The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “Community spirit is alive and well across the borough. The superb turnout at this event shows how willing people are to forge links within and across local communities, and to have fun while doing it!”
Family fun on the day included an: ice-rink, bouncy castles, magic shows and balloon-sculpting. Performances include: World Poetry, African Drumming, Asian Dance, Polish Song and Dance, Italian Performers and Street Dance. World Foods, for tasting on the day, included: Asian, Italian, Eastern European, African, English and Vegan and raw foods.
