The Bedford Borough Partnership is the Borough Council, Health Service, Police, Fire, local businesses, parish councils, voluntary organisations and community groups - all wanting to make life better for everyone who lives, works and visits Bedford Borough.

what we do...

As well as providing services to the citizens of the Borough, we work together to make sure that we are tackling the issues that matter most to our residents and communities; things like...

	More jobs and better housing You want more jobs, getting people back to work and improving the skills of our local workforce. You want sufficient new and affordable homes for our growing population, and a vibrant Bedford town centre with improved access for those in the surrounding area.
	Supporting a natural environment You want to enhance our environment by reducing greenhouse gases. You want to encourage people to walk, cycle or use public transport, recycle as much as possible, and enjoy our natural and built environment.
	Opportunities for children & young people You want all children and young people to feel safe, valued and supported, so they can realise their full potential in life. You want to raise achievements and aspirations in education, employment and training, as well as participation in positive activities. You want to reduce obesity, substance misuse and anti-social behaviour
	Good health You want to help people live longer and healthier lives, wherever they are by helping people to live more independently. You want more smokers to quit and more support for carers of vulnerable people.
	Safer communities You want to feel safer with less crime like burglary and theft. You want repeat offenders and drugs to be tackled. You want less antisocial behaviour.
	Getting involved You want to strengthen communities by taking families with children out of poverty. You want to take part in local activities, have your say on local issues and help others through voluntary and community action.Better housing

Bedford Borough

Together with our residents and communities we have established a vision for the area based on what you tell us is important. This is set out in our consultation draft Sustainable Community Strategy and the information can also be seen in the following pages of this our website.

Starting with this strategy, we will work out together how best to deliver services to meet your needs and aspirations.

We will measure our progress and report back to you.
